Welcome to
Danielle
The Arabs have a saying "When your first
true Hawk dies it will leave a hole in your heart
so large that all the others fall through". This
is certainly the case with Danielle, an
intermewed eyass Goshawk, imported from
Germany by the BFC. I will be eternally
grateful to the British Falconers Club,
Josephine Mitchell, Jim Chick, Walter
Bednereck and Dr. Prof Christian Zaar who
offered endless guidance and support.

I hunted with Danielle for fourteen seasons
accounting for over 2,500 Rabbits, 50 Blue
Hare, 23 Brown Hare, 73 Squirrel, 1 Fox, 217
Pheasant, 46 Partridge, 18 Mallard, 7 Magpies,
and 1 Goose, (the goose unfortunately
belonged to, and was taken on the lawn of the
farmer who had invited me over for the day
hawking with his family).

We made many good friends around the world and spent
many hours hunting with the best of companions.

Daniele died of a brain haemmorhage, three weeks before
the start of our fifteenth season. A day I'll always
remember with great sadness.
